Performance Evaluation of IMERG GPM Products during Tropical Storm Imelda
نویسندگان
چکیده
Tropical Storm Imelda struck the southeast coastal regions of Texas from 17–19 September, 2019, and delivered precipitation above 500 mm over about 6000 km2. The performance three IMERG (Early-, Late-, Final-run) GPM satellite-based products was evaluated against Stage-IV radar estimates. Basic probabilistic statistical metrics, such as CC, RSME, RBIAS, POD, FAR, CSI, PSS were employed to assess products. captured event adequately, with a fairly high POD value 0.9. best product (Early-run) showed an average correlation coefficient 0.60. algorithm used produce Final-run improved quality data by removing systematic errors that occurred in near-real-time Less than 5 RMSE error experienced three-quarters (ranging 73% 76%) area all estimating Imelda. Early-run much better RBIAS relatively product. overall poor, areas acceptable range (i.e., between ?10% 10%) only 16% 17% total area. Overall, found be Late- Final-run.

The evaluation of satellite precipitation products (SPPs) at regional and local scales is essential in improving satellite-based algorithms and sensors, as well as in providing valuable guidance when choosing alternative precipitation data for the local community. The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) has made significant contributions to the development of various SPPs since its launc...

As the successor of the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM), the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission significantly improves the spatial resolution of precipitation estimates from 0.25 ̋ to 0.1 ̋. The present study analyzed the error structures of Integrated Multisatellite Retrievals for GPM (IMERG) monthly precipitation products over Mainland China from March 2014 to February 20...

Satellite precipitation products from the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission and its predecessor the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) are a critical data source for hydrological applications in ungauged basins. This study conducted an initial and early evaluation of the performance of the Integrated Multi-satellite Retrievals for GPM (IMERG) final run and the TRMM Multi-sa...

Tropical Storm Chantal during August 2001 was a storm that failed to intensify over the few days prior to making landfall on the Yucatan Peninsula. An observational study of Tropical Storm Chantal is presented using a diverse dataset including remote and in situ measurements from the NASA ER-2 and DC-8 and the NOAA WP-3D N42RF aircraft and satellite. The authors discuss the storm structure from...

The Integrated Multi-satellitE Retrievals for Global Precipitation Measurement Final Run (IMERGF) product has now been upgraded to Version 4 (V4), which has been available since March 2017. Therefore, it is desirable to evaluate the characteristic differences between the V4 and the previous V3 products. A comprehensive performance evaluation of the errors of the successive V3 and V4 IMERGF prod...
